Corrective eye surgery is a heaven-sent for most people. Because of this procedure, they have improved their vision and eliminated the need for those bothersome eyeglasses and contact lenses. Today, corrective laser eye surgery is one of the newest and bays ways to have your eyesight corrected. There are generally two types of corrective laser eye surgery. There's PRK, which stands for photorefractive keratectomy and Lasik, which means Laser-Assisted in Situ Keratomileusis.
Corrective laser eye surgery works by reshaping the cornea, allowing you to see much better. Laser eye surgery works best for people who suffer from myopia, or nearsightedness, hyperopia or farsightedness and astigmatism. The whole process takes less than ten minutes per eye so the surgery doesn't require patients to stay in the hospital overnight. In fact, many patients walk out the door an hour after coming into the clinic! Then they can expect to resume to their normal, everyday activities in just a matter of days after the surgery. Patients report to having their eyesight dramatically improved so they no longer have to go through the hassles of wearing glasses and contact lenses.
Still, not everyone who wishes to undergo corrective surgery can. Prices of such seemingly simple surgeries can be prohibitive. Some corrective eye surgeries cost about a thousand dollars, just for one eye! In the United States, patients pay anywhere between $500 to about $2,000 per eye. The variations are due to a number of factors, including the area or the state where the corrective eye surgery is performed, as well as the equipment used and the degree of visual impediment of the patient. For example, if you suffer from severe astigmatism, then you are likely to pay much more compared to someone who suffers from mild astigmatism.
Unfortunately, most health insurance companies don't cover corrective laser eye surgeries because this type of surgery is deemed as cosmetic. Still, keep in mind that you shouldn't settle for anything less than the best. After all, you are dealing with a very valuable asset, your eyesight. Do not choose a doctor solely on the basis of how little he or she charges. Even if he or she charges just a little, he or she may not have the right experience, skill and equipment as other, more credible doctors. To finance your corrective eye surgery, don't be afraid to ask around. Some clinics have partnerships with other health insurance companies that can help lower the cost of your eye surgery.

5 Tips Using Contact Lenses To Incredibly Improve Your Look
By Rashme Wong
There are more and more people using contact lenses these days as they have so many advantages over eyeglasses. It is hard and uncomfortable when using contact lenses in the past. But, it is not the case today. Modern contacts are much more comfortable to wear. Also it is easy to care for and affordable. And you do not need to worry about finding the best one for yourselves.
In fact, there are several important contact lens rules that every wearer should follow. Here below are some tips which can make your eyes more healthy and improve your look using contact lenses.
1) Clean them with special cleaning solution, but not just water.
2) Never wear your lenses overnight unless they are specifically designed for wearing several days. This is because your eyes need oxygen, it is not good to keep lenses in the eye over 24 hours.
3) It is the best to take them off after wearing 12 hours. This is because oxygen deprivation can cause serious eye infections.
4) Moisture is so important for the health of your eyes. Modern contact lenses help to retain essential moisture in the eye. But some contact lens wearers still experience dryness in their eyes especially while staring at a computer screen or working in air conditioned places.
5) Choose some eye drops to moisturize your eyes while wearing contacts.
There are many types of contact lenses on the market which can make your eyes more healthier. They are as follows.
1) Traditional lenses can be used for a long time with regular cleaning and daytime only use. You can wear these lenses for about 6 month.
2) Disposable lenses are the most popular these days as they are much thinner than the traditional ones and therefore more comfortable. Disposable contacts are cheaper than the old fashioned ones as well. You can even get daily disposable contacts which you wear for a day and throw away in the evening. Many doctors consider daily disposable contact lenses the healthiest choice for contact lens wearers.
3) Color contact lenses are also the good choice to consider and they can have prescription powers or serve cosmetic purpose too. Also, you can get costume contact lenses for parties or clubs, such as cat eyes or red vampire eyes. These lenses are a must have for parties!
In short, contact lenses can be really a good choice to improve your look and make your eyes more healthy. Remember to be sure that you follow the instructions of your doctor on cleaning them and replacing your lenses with a new pair over sometime.

A Few Tips On How To Ensure Eye Protection And Industrial Safety
By Joe B. Russell
Eye protection has become a critical factor when it comes to the subject of industrial safety. With 21% of the total number of workplace injuries per year related to the eyes, the need for protective eyewear has become a sensitive subject for many of the people belonging to the concerned industries.
Here are some guidelines, a list of tips which any employer should remember in order to ensure industrial safety by providing excellent eye safety measures for your employee's workplace.
1. Require the usage of eye protection. In most jurisdictions protective eyewear is now required by workplace safety organizations such as OSHA. Some industries are constantly exposed to eye hazards where workers should be protected from these perils at all times, and the only way to do this without effectuating a cessation of work is by requiring them to wear safety rated eye protection such as goggles, face shield, helmet visors, protective eyeglasses and the like.
2. The protection you choose to provide to your employees should be of the highest quality. Polycarbonate lenses which are found in high end protective eyewear such as those produced by WileyX provide the best extreme eye protection.
3. Protective eyewear should be customizable. protection that a worker cannot wear comfortably can only lead to more accidents as the worker will be constantly removing the eyewear to seek comfort. The product you choose for your employees should be adjustable, at the very least.
4. Keep protective eyewear clean. Inspect regularly for cracks, breakages, loose frames or other deficiencies.
5. Conduct regular safety seminars just to remind the workers that an ounce of prevention is worth more than a pound of cure. Most industrial accidents, eye-related or not, occur because of carelessness more than anything else.
6. Employ a staff that can provide immediate clinical aid. Whether a fulltime doctor or a nurse, providing expert care for the workers will go a long, long way in preventing long term eye injuries.
7. Provide anti-fog solution. Some protective eyewear in certain environmental conditions are susceptible to condensation. And when condensation occurs, fog builds up, severely impairing the wearer's vision and increasing the possibility of industrial accidents. Highe end anti-fog solutions such as Fogtech Advanced Anti Fog are excellent options against such a contingency.
8. Conduct regular assessment of the workplace to determine if current eye protection measures are sufficient and if there have been changes in the work environment that necessitate new eye protection measures to be implemented.

Don't Risk Your Eye Health By Not Wearing Proper Safety Gear
By Nathan Waterman
Many people think nothing bad will happen to them. They are experts--very experienced, right? WRONG. Even well trained workers should wear PPE, personal protection equipment. In 1970, the Occupational Safety and Health Act was passed to make the workplace safer. The act is enforced by OSHA. OSHA also comes up with new regulations that all businesses must adhere to. Some examples of protective equipment required by OSHA for some jobs are hardhats, safety eyeglasses, goggles, steel-toed boots, harnesses, gloves, etc. The required equipment changes based upon the industry.
If you have a risky job, you don't have a choice of whether or not to wear safety gear. OHSA will require PPA in any job that could negatively effect your health. The employer must study any potential threats that could occur and address them by providing safety gear for protection and by educating the employees about the threat. They also must show the employees the proper way to use the PPE.
OSHA safety eyewear must be worn if the worker is in the vicinity of flying debris in the form of things like sparks, dust, chemical splashes, wood splinters, etc. Safety glasses used to be crude and awkward, but they have developed into advanced gear, with safety bifocals, trifocals, and progressive focus lenses available. The lenses can be made of plastic or polycarbonate. Polycarbonate lenses are very strong. They are lighter, but stronger than plastic.
The sacrifice for this strength is that they aren't quite as clear to look through. Another material that the lenses can now be made out of is called Trivex. It has the best of both worlds in that it is the most impact resistant material, but it also does not sacrifice optical quality at all. Understandably, this material can be quite expensive though. Polycarbonate is the most popular because of the expense. The lenses can be tinted for various purposes. You will see a "Z-87" stamp on the glasses that meet the OSHA standards.
Safety glasses look like regular glasses or sunglasses, but they are built to withstand quite a bit of abuse. You must protect yourself, so please adhere to the laws and wear your safety equipment. You probably won't have time to protect yourself from something flying towards your eye, so glasses can save your vision. Similarly, a hardhat can protect you from objects falling on you from above that you wouldn't be able to see.

Lasik Vision Correction - An Affordable Innovation
By Arvind Singh
Many people think and dream of getting their glasses off. Earlier the only way of getting rid of glasses was to wear contact lenses. However, with technological improvement, it has now become possible to correct vision defect itself. Lasik vision correction is a new technology which has made it possible for anyone to cure vision defect in a short time period and in a cost effective manner. This Lasik vision correction technique is very safe and a person undergoing this surgery can resume his or her work within a few weeks time. In Lasik centre, the ophthalmologist use laser beam to modify the shape of cornea and the operation can be done with a few minutes.
Laser is basically a beam and is an acronym for light amplification which is a result of stimulation emission of radiation. It is a light beam and the beam is created purposely. This laser can be ultraviolet or infrared laser beam or it can even be within the range of our vision. The laser beams are named according to the way it is created like solid-state laser, semi conductor or can even be gas laser. All beams created are of same colour, and it is even directional which means the light particles present in the beam are in the state of lockstep. This results in beam to be highly focused and concentrated.
In Lasik vision correction, ultraviolet beams used, are referred as excimer laser. Any person desiring to go for this Lasik operation is instructed to discontinue wearing contact lenses approximately 10-15 day prior to the surgery date. Before conducting the surgery, the patient's corneas are examined with a help of a pachymeter to ascertain its thickness and with a topographer to measure surface contour. This also enables the surgeon to detect astigmatism and any other irregularities in the cornea. After the surgery, patients have to undergo a course of antibiotics and apply anti-inflammatory eye drops for some time. Patients are advised to wear a dark pair of eyeglasses to protect it from light after Lasik vision correction surgery.
With the passage of time, there has been a marked improvement in the Lasik vision correction surgery, but surgeons are still waiting to for conclusive evidence to see it is absolutely safe in the long run. There are a chances of a patient suffering from complications like slipped flap, corneal infection, glare or halo and some of these complications are irreversible as this process of Lasik surgery is irreversible. With time this cornea surgery has become affordable and safe for people and Lasik surgery cost has gone down tremendously. The effects of undergoing this surgery and its consequences in the long run will be known at later stage.
LasikAide is an online information hub for those who have minor defect in vision and want liberty from lenses and glasses. Lasik Vision Correction gives some unbelievable results. So what are you waiting for, visit a Lasik Vision Institute and get back lost vision.
